About Me
Hi, I’m Caroline, a freelance copywriter and content creator.
I’ve been fully focused on my writing career for over seven years now, but before that, I owned a restaurant for two decades.
I live in Yorkshire but have strong ties to the French Alps where I lived for several years and I speak the (beautiful) French language fluently. My A-level French teacher would undoubtedly be dumbfounded that I learnt to converse in the language of Moliere (I was a poor student), but living abroad taught me the beauty of communication and the possibilities it can offer. No longer a verb table in an uninspiring textbook, French became the pathway to friendship, work and ultimately, joy.
Understanding the communicative power of another tongue opened my eyes to how far we can get if we take the time to learn about each other. It showed me that human connection through language is one of our biggest gifts and, in this new, ‘always on’, digital age, recognising that is more important than ever. The ability to use language to tell our stories is what makes us human – it’s an enormous and intrinsic part of who we are.
I love that my work now is all about making those connections between people happen. I think I have a natural empathy that helps me imagine myself in the shoes of others and what challenges they’re facing, which in turn reinforces the messages I’m sending through my writing.
Copywriting requires more than just language skills. While the ability to manipulate words and phrases is indisputable, empathy, sensitivity, and vision are what really make writing shine, and these are what I bring in abundance.
“You can make anything by writing.”
